Without a twenty fifth hour in the day, I must resort to a standing, jumping, ringing, singing endorsement of  today’s episode of the Ben Shapiro show. It is a series of stories that got run with and have now fallen apart juxtaposed against a series of the latest verifiable stories that are being actively buried for excuses that don’t hold water. It used to be that you had to witness these slight differences on a daily basis for weeks in order to sign on to it being the result of corrupt commitment to a single narrative. Today is my birthday. For my birthday wish, I wish for you to read Georgia’s new bill SB 202 and compare your reading of it to what you’ve heard about it. It’s 95 pages, but it’s double spaced and full of breaks.  legis.ga.gov My birthday wish is for more people to free their minds from the old and broken notion that the cumulative voice of the heads of newsrooms, Hollywood, sports organizations, and major corporations constitutes de facto truth. That the small handful of people controlling the nation’s dialogue aren’t corrupted or compelled by coordinated activists and elite echo chambers.  I read this bill last night. I submit that 99% of people who have voiced an opinion about it have not and are just trusting someone else about it. Read it.

Political rhetoric can be laughably entertaining, especially so when each side accuses the other of the  exact same charge . I’m not talking about boiler plate accusations of hypocrisy, corruption, or dishonesty, all of which can be fairly and honestly applied in a variety of instances. I am talking about deeper and more existential characterizations. In this instance, the dreaded and unwanted label of  authoritarianism. Obviously, it is difficult to see how the term could be applied accurately to both sides, in the same manner, and still be an honest characterization. The term itself carries critical definitional capacity, given that it describes a key element of a political disposition. Ask yourself what you know about what happened to Gina Carano this month. Or Chris Harrison. Or Don McNeil. When did you hear about it, and how was it described to you? Did you go and read directly the tweets or interviews that they were sacked over? Or was a summary of the mob’s case against them enough to satisfy any curiosity you may have had? Did you think the punishment was slightly out of proportion, but they “should have known better?” You may be demonstrating Gina’s point (no matter how cringey) in real time.  I beg you to read/watch the direct posts, quotes, and interviews that got these people cancelled.  Read all of Gina Carano’s “controversial” posts below and ask yourself if someone should be dropped like a sack of rotten potatoes for sharing these thoughts on her own time.
